How much does IUI cost?

Helpful tools

Having a child is the dream of many couples. However, for some couples facing infertility or who have tried natural conception without success, IUI offers an alternative to help fulfill that dream. IUI, or intrauterine insemination, involves placing sperm from the male partner directly into the female partner’s uterus to facilitate fertilization and achieve pregnancy.

IUI is a safe, straightforward procedure that takes little time and is generally more affordable than other infertility treatments. How much does IUI cost, and what attractive packages are available? You can find the answers in this article.

How much does an IUI package cost, and what packages are available?

The IUI procedure is straightforward, which makes the cost relatively affordable—generally starting at around 12,000–15,000 THB. This fee may cover ovarian stimulation for the female partner, the insemination procedure, hormone medications, doctor and treatment equipment fees, ultrasounds during each visit, and sometimes the initial health check.

At Beyond IVF, IUI package prices vary depending on the treating physician. The package details are as follows.

Who is suitable for IUI?

IUI is a relatively low-cost procedure compared to other infertility treatments and involves simple steps, making it suitable for couples with mild fertility issues, such as:

  • Couples who have been trying to conceive naturally for a year without success

  • Couples aware of fertility problems and seeking medical treatment

  • Women with cervical issues that hinder sperm movement

  • Women under 38 experiencing fertility difficulties

  • Women with ovulation problems or irregular menstrual cycles

  • Men with slightly reduced sperm motility or quality

คำถามที่พบบ่อยเกี่ยวกับ IUI

Why do doctors recommend trying IUI first when infertility is detected?

Because IUI is a safe, simple, and non-surgical procedure, and its cost is lower than other infertility treatments, couples can access treatment more easily. Importantly, for couples with mild fertility issues—such as ovulation problems or low sperm quality—IUI can significantly increase the chances of pregnancy.

How much can IUI increase the chances of pregnancy?

IUI can increase the chances of pregnancy by 15–20% compared to natural intercourse. However, success depends on the woman’s physical condition, age, and the quality of the male partner’s sperm.

Can IUI help if one has undergone sterilization?

Although IUI is an affordable and accessible method that can increase the chances of pregnancy, it may not be suitable for individuals who have undergone sterilization. Specifically, women who have had their fallopian tubes removed will not allow sperm to reach the egg, and men who have had their vas deferens cut may produce sperm of insufficient quality for fertilization.

If IUI is unsuccessful, how long should you wait before trying the next cycle?

Generally, IUI can be performed in the next menstrual cycle, provided the doctor has evaluated your health and deemed it appropriate.

How many days after IUI does fertilization occur?

The IUI procedure involves placing sperm from the male partner into the female partner’s uterus on the day of ovulation, when the egg has reached the fallopian tube. Fertilization can occur on the same day; however, if fertilization does not happen, the ovulated egg will naturally degenerate within one day.

Body Mass Index calculator

Being overweight or underweight can reduce fertility, so it is important to keep your body weight within the normal healthy range.

Body Mass Index (BMI) is an indication of your body weight and can be calculated by dividing weight by height. You should aim for a BMI of between 20 and 25, as this will optimise your chances of conception.

Woman’s BMI below 19

Even in these modern times, nature knows best. If a woman's BMI falls below 19, the body senses famine and ovulation is switched off to prevent the risk of having a baby with malnutrition. Excessive exercise can reduce body fat and increase muscle mass to a point where periods cease for the same reason. Risk of miscarriage is also increased in women with a low BMI.

Being underweight

If a woman's BMI falls below 19, the body senses famine and ovulation is switched off to prevent the risk of having a baby with malnutrition. Excessive exercise can reduce body fat and increase muscle mass to a point where periods cease for the same reason. Risk of miscarriage is also increased in women with a low BMI.

BMI’s greater than 30

This can reduce fertility by 50%. Pregnancy for women with a 30+ BMI is often associated with problems such as maternal diabetes, high blood pressure, big babies and increased risk of caesarean section.
